Construction continues at these intersections:  

Emerson/Fremont & Lowry  

• Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, and new street pavement.  

• Intersections partially closed April 15, with lane closures in place for up to four months. The full closure of Fremont & Lowry ended May 18.  
• This week, crews completed curb and gutter work and continued platform work, which will continue into next week alongside electrical work and traffic signal base installation. 

Fremont & Plymouth  

• Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, and new street pavement.  
• Construction began on April 8 and will continue for up to three months, with lane closures in place. Lane closures will end on May 25. 

• This week, crews began lane striping. This work will be complete next week.  

7th St. & Bryant  

• Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, and new street pavement.   
• Also included will be removal of the median on Aldrich Ave. N., and construction of a single inlet/outlet on Aldrich Ave. N. to and from N. 7th St., traveling southbound. Work also includes reconstruction and realignment of the northern sidewalk adjacent to Aldrich Ave., and installation of a new traffic signal at N. 7th St.   
• Construction began April 5 and will continue for up to three months, with lane closures in place. Lane closures will end on May 25.  

• This week, crews began work on the shelter areas and landscaping. Next week, this work will finish, and lane striping will occur. 

Chicago & 14th St.  

• Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, and new street pavement.  
• The intersection has reopened from full closure and will have lane closures in place for up to two months. 
• This week, crews continued work on the shelter area and shelter seat walls. This work will continue into next week.  

Chicago & Franklin  

• Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, new street pavement, partial street reconstruction, new pedestrian ramps, signals, and sidewalks.   
• Also included will be partial street reconstruction, new pedestrian ramps, and sidewalks at all three corners of Franklin and Columbus.  
• The intersection has reopened from full closure and will have lane closures in place for up to four months. 
• This week, crews began bus pad paving and signal installation work. Signal work will continue into next week, and crews will begin pouring concrete for station platforms. 

Chicago-Lake Transit Center  

• Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, new street pavement, street reconstruction, new pedestrian ramps, signals, and sidewalks. Also included will be a realignment of the bus-only lane from the center of Chicago Ave. to the curbside lane.  
• The intersection partially closed the week of April 23, with lane closures in place for up to four months.    
• This week crews began pouring concrete for station platforms and walls. This work will continue into next week. 

Chicago & 34th St.  

• Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, and new street pavement.  
• The intersection reopened to vehicle traffic May 20. Lane closures will continue for up to three months.  
• This week crews began pouring concrete for station platforms and walls. This work will continue into next week. 

Fremont & 35th Ave. 

• Construction will include station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals and ramps, street pavement, and utility work. 

• The intersection is fully closed to vehicle traffic starting May 19, for up to a month. 
• The intersection will re-open in late June, with up to three months of lane closures following the reopening. 
• This week, crews began concrete removals. Next week, water work will begin. 

Affected stops:  

• All northbound stops on Chicago Ave between 35th St. E. and 8th St. S.  
• All southbound stops on Chicago Ave between 14th St. E. and 35th St. E.  

Emerson/Fremont and Lowry detour:  

• Northbound buses will travel on Emerson, right on 30th, left on Dupont, left on 33rd and resume regular route. 

• Southbound buses will travel on Fremont to 33rd, left on Girard, left on 30th, right on Fremont and resume regular route.  

Fremont and 35th detour 

Route 5 service is detoured off Fremont Ave. between 34th Ave. and 36th Ave. 

• Northbound buses will travel on Fremont to 34th, left on 34th, right on Girard, go north on Girard to 36th, right on 36th, left on Fremont and resume regular route.  
• Southbound buses will travel on Fremont to 36th, right on 36th, left on Girard, go south on Girard to 34th, left on 34th, right on Fremont and resume regular route.  

Portland Ave. will be open to traffic with lane restrictions. Buses will not detour off Portland, but bus stop closures will be in place.  

Route 5 stops at Portland Ave. S. & 61st St. E. and Portland Ave. S. & Park Ave. will be closed 

• Customers board buses one block north at 60th St. E. 

Route 5 stop at Portland Ave. S. & 62nd St. E. will be closed 

• Customers board buses two blocks south at 64th St. E. 

Route 5 stop at Portland Ave. S. & 66th St. E. will be closed 

• Customers board buses two blocks north at 64th St. E. or one block south at 67th St. E. 

Route 5 stop at Portland Ave. S. & 70th St. E. will be closed 

• Customers board buses one block north at 69th St. E. or one block south at 71st. St. E.
