Construction continues at these intersections:  

Emerson/Fremont & Lowry  

• Construction will include station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, and new street pavement.  
• The intersections will be partially closed starting April 15, with lane closures in place for up to four months.  

• This week, concrete removals were completed. Next week, storm sewer, water work, and utility work will begin. 

Fremont & Plymouth  

• Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, and new street pavement.  
• Construction began on April 8 and will continue for up to three months, with lane closures in place.  
• This week, crews poured curb and gutters, as well as the concrete bus pads. Next week, work on the platform areas will begin 

7th Street & Bryant  

• Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, and new street pavement.   
• Also included will be removal of the median on Aldrich Ave. N., and construction of a single inlet/outlet on Aldrich Ave. N. to and from N. 7th St., traveling southbound. Work also includes reconstruction and realignment of the northern sidewalk adjacent to Aldrich Ave., and installation of a new traffic signal at N. 7th St.   
• Construction began on April 5 and will continue for up to three months, with lane closures in place.  
• This week, crews poured curb and gutters, as well as the concrete bus pads. Next week, work on the platform areas will begin 

Chicago & 14th Street  

• Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, and new street pavement.  
• The intersection was fully closed April 7 and will be closed for one month. The intersection will be reopened in early May followed by several months of lane closures.  
• Utility work and water/hydrant work continued this week. This work will continue into next week until completion.  

Chicago & Franklin  

• Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, new street pavement, partial street reconstruction, new pedestrian ramps, signals, and sidewalks.   
• Also included will be partial street reconstruction, new pedestrian ramps, and sidewalks at all three corners of Franklin and Columbus.  
• Construction began on April 5 and will continue for approximately six months with lane closures in place. There is currently a temporary full intersection closure in place until Thursday, April 29th due to utility work. 
• Signal work and platform foundation work, as well as utility work and curb and gutter placement were completed this past week. Next week, utility work will continue, and concrete work on the platform areas will begin.     

Chicago-Lake Transit Center  

• Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, new street pavement, street reconstruction, new pedestrian ramps, signals, and sidewalks.  Also included will be a realignment of the bus-only lane from the center of Chicago Avenue to the curbside lane.  
• The intersection will be partially closed starting next week, with lane closures in place for up to four months.    
• This week, crews completed the concrete removals and began underground cable work. Next week, utility work will continue, and storm sewer and water work will begin. 

Chicago & 34th Street  

• Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, and new street pavement.  

• The intersection will be fully closed to vehicle traffic starting Monday, April 12 for up to a month.   
• The intersection will reopen to vehicle traffic in mid-May, with up to three months of lane closures following the reopening.  
• This week, crews began water and sewer work, this work will continue into next week. Utility work will also occur next week.   

Route 5 detour off Chicago between 9th St. and 42nd St., at Emerson/Fremont and Lowry continue.  

All Route 5 service is detoured off of Chicago between downtown Minneapolis and 42nd Ave.  

Southbound buses will travel on Chicago to 9th St., right on 9th St., left on Portland, left on 42nd St., right on Chicago and resume regular route.   

Northbound buses will travel on Chicago to 42nd St., left on 42nd St., right on Park, right on 8th St., left on Chicago, left on 7th St. and resume regular route.  

Affected stops:  

• All northbound stops on Chicago Ave between 35th St. E. and 8th St. S.  

• All southbound stops on Chicago Ave between 14th St. E. and 35th St. E.  

Emerson/Fremont detour:  

• Northbound buses will travel on Emerson, right on 30th, left on Dupont, left on 33rd and resume regular route  
• Southbound buses will travel on Fremont to 33rd, left on Girard, left on 30th, right on Fremont and resume regular route
