Construction update emails will pause, resume mid-May
As crews continue work at the seven stations listed below, additional construction is not planned to start at any new stations in the next three weeks. Weekly construction communications will resume as news on future construction work develops.

Construction continues at these intersections:
Emerson/Fremont & Lowry

Construction will include station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, and new street pavement.

The intersections will be partially closed starting April 15, with lane closures in place for up to four months.

This week, concrete removals were completed. Next week, storm sewer, water work, and utility work will begin.

Work also includes reconstruction and realignment of the northern sidewalk adjacent to Aldrich Ave., and installation of a new traffic signal at N. 7th St.

Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, new street pavement, street reconstruction, new pedestrian ramps, signals, and sidewalks. Also included will be a realignment of the bus-only lane from the center of Chicago Avenue to the curbside lane.

The intersection will be partially closed starting next week, with lane closures in place for up to four months.

This week, crews completed the concrete removals and began underground cable work. Next week, utility work will continue, and storm sewer and water work will begin.

Route 5 detour off Chicago between 9th St. and 42nd St., at Emerson/Fremont and Lowry continue.
Chicago Avenue detour:
All Route 5 service is detoured off of Chicago between downtown Minneapolis and 42nd Ave.
Southbound buses will travel on Chicago to 9th St., right on 9th St., left on Portland, left on 42nd St., right on Chicago and resume regular route.
Northbound buses will travel on Chicago to 42nd St., left on 42nd St., right on Park, right on 8th St., left on Chicago, left on 7th St. and resume regular route.

All northbound stops on Chicago Ave between 35th St. E. and 8th St. S.

All southbound stops on Chicago Ave between 14th St. E. and 35th St. E.

Northbound buses will travel on Emerson, right on 30th, left on Dupont, left on 33rd and resume regular route
