April 2: Construction crews prepare temporary traffic signals for construction at Chicago & Franklin
Work will begin at these intersections the week of April 12:
Dates below are forecasts, and are subject to change based on weather and unforeseen conditions.

Next week, crews will begin concrete removal in the intersection as well as underground cable work.

Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, and new street pavement.

The intersection will be fully closed to vehicle traffic starting Monday, April 12 for up to a month.

The intersection will reopen in mid-May, with up to three months of lane closures following the reopening.
Chicago-Lake Transit Center

Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, new street pavement, street reconstruction, new pedestrian ramps, signals, and sidewalks. Also included will be a realignment of the bus-only lane from the center of Chicago Avenue to the curbside lane.

The intersection will be partially closed starting next week, with lane closures in place for up to four months.

The intersection was fully closed April 7, and will be closed for one month. The intersection will be reopened in early May followed by several months of lane closures.

Monday, April 12- All Route 5 service will be detoured off of Chicago between downtown Minneapolis and 42nd Ave.
Southbound buses will travel on Chicago to 9th St., right on 9th St., left on Portland, left on 42nd St., right on Chicago and resume regular route.
Northbound buses will travel on Chicago to 42nd St., left on 42nd St., right on Park, right on 8th St., left on Chicago, left on 7th St. and resume regular route.
