Turo, an app-based peer-to-peer car-sharing company –sometimes referred to as the Airbnb of the rental car industry – now has a presence on-site at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, with vehicles located on Level 6 of the Red parking ramp at Terminal 1.
Turo has been in business since 2010 and facilitates rentals in about 5,500 cities worldwide. A wide variety of vehicles are available. A valid driver’s license is required.
Turo rentals have been available at MSP previously, but users of the app needed to coordinate a pick-up of the vehicle from the owner. The on-site vehicles offer customers more convenience.
Guests start the Turo rental process with a visit to the Turo app or website. The process is similar to that of a traditional rental car company, including the availability of trip-specific insurance, though the vehicles are owned by individuals and being rented to you. Online reviews of individual vehicle owners are available on the Turo app, as well.
Renters can also call 415-965-4525 to speak with a representative.

The days leading up to and following Thanksgiving are busy ones at MSP. If you’re planning a trip through MSP soon, check out these tips and entertainment options to make your journey smooth and enjoyable.
- Learn more about our Travel Confidently program and gather up-to-date safety recommendations and face-covering requirements on our website.
- If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to grab a meal at Terminal 1, MSP ASAP makes it a breeze with pick-up and delivery options directly from your mobile device. Visit mspairport.com to order and enjoy a safe and speedy contactless meal! At Terminal 2, travelers can order ahead from both Caribou Coffee and Subway.
- Check this full schedule of weekly and special musical and dance performances to see if any of them align with your departure or arrival at MSP. The performances are brought to you by Arts@MSP, a joint program of the Metropolitan Airports Commission and the Airport Foundation MSP.
- Also curated and coordinated by Arts@MSP are several new art experiences at MSP, including the art installations found at this link and many new restroom mosaics.
- While the pandemic has had an impact on the number of travelers through MSP, there are still busy periods throughout the day. Passengers should arrive at the airport two hours ahead of a domestic departure, and three hours for an international flight.
Another tip for friends and family picking up or dropping off travelers at MSP’s Terminal 1 is to use the lower roadway for drop offs and the upper roadway for pick-ups. These are opposite locations than is typical for these purposes but can be used if traffic is heavy. Spreading out pick-ups and drop-offs between the two levels during peak traffic times is a win-win for everyone! Just be sure to communicate with your arriving traveler as to where you will pick them up.
Or, to avoid those areas all together, you can also pick-up or drop-off travelers on the upper east roadway, which runs parallel to the traffic lanes directly in front of Terminal 1 (departures level). As you approach the terminal, stay to the left and follow the signs to the upper east roadway.
Wishing you all safe and happy travels!

Businesses associated with the aviation industry have been greatly affected by the ongoing pandemic, including companies that provide services to passengers in MSP Airport’s terminals.
Those businesses – such as restaurants, bars and retail shops -- have persevered and proven resilient as the number of people traveling through MSP dipped and then began recovering. One of those businesses was recently recognized by Twin Cities Business magazine for its success.
Estes Enterprises, a long-time concessionaire at MSP that operates several retail locations, received one of the magazine’s 2021 Minnesota Family Business Awards. Frederic Estes (pictured) is the principal owner of Estes Enterprises. The family’s success is chronicled in a story that appears in the magazine and on its website.

The Prince Store at MSP Airport is back in its original location, located across from Stone Arch restaurant and bar on the south end of the mall in Terminal 1 after having temporarily moved down the mall due to construction in the area. The popular Prince videos are also back playing on the exterior of the store.
Outside Paisley Park, you won't find a bigger variety of Prince-related merchandise -- including vinyl albums and CDs. Also available are Prince-inspired face masks, a wide variety of T-shirts, cups, mugs and other memorabilia.
With international travel beginning to rebound at MSP after the Nov. 8 change in U.S. policy allowing non-citizen travelers to enter the U.S. with proof of vaccination, it's a good time to remind travelers of MSP's currency exchange services.
Currency Exchange International (CEI) opened this month in the airport mall at Terminal 1 with a kiosk just inside the South Security Checkpoint and across from Stone Arch restaurant and bar. CEI provides exchange services for a wide range of international currencies. The company’s current kiosk is in place while its permanent location is constructed nearby.
Once this location opens, the kiosk will move permanently over to Terminal 2. A second built-in unit for CEI is set to open on the arrivals level at Terminal 1 in the early months of 2022.

Two MSP Airport-based nonprofits are participating in “Give to the Max Day” on Thursday, Nov. 18.
The Airport Foundation MSP and the Minnesota Armed Forces Service Center (AFSC) – will be participating in the nationwide non-profit fundraising event again this year. Both non-profits provide important services for travelers passing through MSP.
The foundation supports the airport with volunteers who staff the information desks and provides a wide-reaching arts program, that includes both live entertainment and art exhibits and installations. The Armed Forces Service Center provides in-airport services to active-duty military personnel and their dependents as they’re traveling.
Go to the “Give to the Max Day’s” website to find the donation sites for both the Foundation and the AFSC.
“Give to the Max Day” is recognized by nonprofit organizations as an opportunity to raise awareness of public charities and educate about ways one can support the many great causes they represent.

The holiday travel season is right around the corner, and many are makings plans for trips for the first time in more than a year.
MSP Airport is soliciting input from prospective travelers via a survey that gauges attitudes about and interest in air travel. The answers help shape the MSP travel experience as the COVID-19 era becomes more manageable.
Even if you’ve already taken the survey, please consider taking it again, as your thoughts and answers may have changed over time.
Survey takers have shown interest in MSP's safety initiatives, such as the increased presence of hand sanitizer dispensers, the face mask requirement and the airport’s efforts to increase physical distancing. All of those efforts are part of the airport's Travel Confidently program.
We appreciate your continued interest in helping us make air travel as safe and comfortable as possible.
