September 2025
Across the state, hundreds of thousands of students are starting a new school year. The Minnesota Goes to College initiative is excited to partner with you all for what we hope is a year of positive change and growth for students and educators alike. Our collective of agencies and institutions recognizes the privilege we have in serving the diverse students and families in our great state. Thank you for your partnership in this important work.
As we begin another year, we have a lot of exciting updates for you!

The Minnesota Office of Higher Education launched a new website in June 2025. As part of this larger project, the MN Goes to College brand got a much-needed refresh. If you have not done so already, please check it out and update any bookmarks you may have that direct to the old website. Please share this new website and all of our resources with your colleagues, students, and families.

The 2025-2026 OHE annual publications about important college-going topics are ready for order! New this year, we have downsized to just two publications. The first, formerly "Choosing a College," is now "Choosing a Career Pathway." This publication now includes introductory information for students who may be considering a route other than college. Based on community feedback, we brought back the full list of colleges and universities in Minnesota, arranged by region and institution type. The second publication combines what was previously two publications. "Paying for College" now covers all of the financial aid information we want families to know about, including grants, scholarships, FAFSA, MN Dream Act, loans, and more.
In additional to print versions, the digital versions are available now, and translated versions in Spanish, Hmong, and Somali are coming to our website soon.
OHE also has a new ordering platform with our shipping partner Bolger. This site allows you to order our publications free of charge. All institutions should set up a new account with Bolger for future orders. Please read carefully to determine which link you should use for orders.
-
High School ordering site: MOST high schools should use this link. The exception is schools that participate in the Direct Admissions Program.
-
Partner ordering site: ALL college, universities, community based organizations, governmental organizations, and other community partners should use this link. Also, any high school that participates in the Direct Admissions Program should use this link.
-

If you have questions or issues, please reach out to OHE's Outreach and Communications Coordinator and MN Goes to College Co-Chair Libby Fahrenkamp at libby.fahrenkamp@state.mn.us.

We are excited to officially launch The College Planning Series, formerly Ready, Set, FAFSA!. While we loved the RSF brand, it no longer aligned with the content being delivered. Our goal is to provide the most helpful, relevant, and up-to-date information to as many MN residents as possible, and we look forward to the possibilities The College Planning Series will provide. This fall, we have sessions about college options, applying to college, financial aid, scholarships, and more. Check out the schedule, sign up to attend, and share within your network. All virtual sessions include live interpretation in Spanish, Hmong, and Somali. We also record every session and post recordings and sessions materials on our website.
This fall, join us for our annual trainings. This year, we are offering the following options:
-
Higher Education Updates: This meeting is for counselors and other practitioners to provide relevant updates in the higher education landscape locally and nationally. If you have specific questions you are hoping might be addressed, please send those along ahead of time to libby.fahrenkamp@state.mn.us
-
2026-27 FAFSA Training: This training is is designed for educators with a focus on getting information to high school counselors and community partners who assist families with FAFSA completion. Training is by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education. Both sessions provide the same content.
-
2026-27 MN Dream Act Training: Presented by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, this training is for educators who assist families with MN Dream Act completion. Presenters will cover eligibility, the application process, and explain who should file as well as the benefits of filing.
