Man in custody following gunfire at a Minnetonka apartment complex

Statement from Minnetonka Police

Minnetonka police officers took a man into custody Saturday afternoon following reports of shots fired at an apartment complex. The initial 911 call was received prior to 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 21.

As officers arrived on the scene, they could hear multiple rounds of gunfire and evacuated residents from nearby apartments at 10233 34th St. W. The man barricaded himself inside an apartment and spoke with police negotiators before peacefully surrendering prior to 1 p.m.

There were no injuries reported. The incident remains under investigation. Officers were assisted by the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department as well as the Hopkins, Eden Prairie, Edina and St. Louis Park police departments.
