A message from Mayor Wiersum
Dear Minnetonka residents,
As COVID-19 testing has (thankfully) increased in Minnesota, so has the number of confirmed cases and deaths. Unfortunately, cases in our state are now increasing at one of the highest rates in the nation. While we all wish restrictions would relax further, we are not there yet.
I am proud of the way our community has faced this challenge. Unfortunately, the city continues to receive reports from concerned residents who have witnessed others ignoring restrictions – things like large group gatherings in parks, dogs running uncontrolled and off-leash, and a general refusal to abide by social distancing rules.
While we all long to return to our favorite activities and some semblance of normal, now is not the time. The only path to get there safely includes a strong commitment to follow the rules set forth by the CDC and accepting a sense of personal responsibility. Be diligent about social distancing. Wear a mask in public. Wash your hands frequently. Stay home. It’s up to all of us to do this … for our own safety, for our friends and loved ones and for the greater good.
I am happy to share some positive local news:
In the coming week, I ask you to please do your part. I anticipate a more optimistic view will appear on the horizon. I hope you and your families are well. You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Be safe, be kind, be well, and I wish all moms a very Happy Mother’s Day.
Sincerely,
Stay updated
