New Guidance Available; Acrylamide Now Under Review; CEC Quarterly Report Now Available
Minnesota Department of Health sent this bulletin at 11/06/2013 03:19 PM CSTThe Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is sending this update to inform you of recent activities relating to health-based guidance for water contaminants.
New Guidance available for Chlorpyrifos and Chlorpyrifos oxon. A health-based value (HBV) has been set for chlorpyrifos and a risk assessment advice value (RAA) has been set for chlorpyrifos oxon, contaminants of emerging concern. Chlorpyrifos is an insecticide used on food and non-food crops in Minnesota. Chlorpyrifos oxon is a chemical formed when chlorpyrifos is broken down in the body or environment. Guidance values are available on the Human Health-Based Water Guidance Table. Chlopyrifos and chlorpyrifos oxon have been removed from the Chemicals Under Review table and added to the Health-Based Guidance Review History table.
New Guidance available for Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE). A risk assessment advice value (RAA) has been set for MTBE, a gasoline additive used in Minnesota until 2005. Guidance values are available on the Human Health-Based Water Guidance Table. MTBE has been removed from the Chemicals Under Review table and added to the Health-Based Guidance Review History table.
New Chemical Under Review. MDH has selected acrylamide for review by the Drinking Water Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CEC) program. Acrylamide is a chemical used to synthesize many different polymers for construction, laboratory, and water treatment applications. The Chemicals Under Review table has been updated.
CEC Quarterly Report now Available. MDH has prepared a quarterly report that summarizes the activities of the drinking water Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CEC) program from July through September of 2013. Refer to the CEC Quarterly Report.
