Minnesota Department of Health MIIC Data Submission and Exchange Update
Minnesota Department of Health sent this bulletin at 07/30/2013 11:08 AM CDTThis update is to notify you of recent changes to vaccine codes accepted by the Minnesota Immunization Information Connection (MIIC) immunization registry.
There was a mistake in the email communication that was sent on June 27th, 2013. Fluarix, quadrivalent 6-35 months, does not have a valid vaccine code because Fluarix is only available for patients >= 3 years at this time.
The new flu codes are:
- Flumist quadrivalent: use CPT code 90672 or CVX code 149.
- Fluarix, quadrivalent >=3 yrs: use CPT code 90686 or CVX code 150.
- Fluzone quadrivalent 6-35 mos: use CPT code 90685 or CVX code 150.
- Fluzone, quadrivalent >=3 yrs: use CPT code 90686 or CVX code 150.
- Flublok, 18-49 yrs: use CPT code 90673 or CVX code 155.
- Flucelvax, 18+ yrs: use CPT code 90661 or CVX code 153.
- Influenza nasal, unspecified formulation; only use for historical shots where formulation is unknown: use CVX code 151.
If your organization sends HL7 messages to MIIC, please ensure that you submit as much information as possible, such as manufacturer or trade name. Some vaccines share CPT and CVX codes, so this information helps differentiate which vaccine was given.
A full list of vaccine codes accepted by MIIC is available on the MIIC Vaccines and Vaccine Codes web page.
