MDH Update on Community Vaccination Events
The Minnesota Department of Health’s community vaccination effort will be transitioning toward a more sustainable model of working in the community with a continued commitment to serve and work with focus communities and high-social vulnerability index (SVI) areas.
Several important and impactful community vaccination partnerships will continue in the months ahead, and a couple initiatives will end this month:
- Community vaccination efforts will continue through the partnership with the COVID Community Coordinators (CCC) team in supporting their contractors’ efforts with logistics, medical providers and staffing, as needed.
- The Department of Health plans to continue the partnership with Children’s Minnesota for ongoing clinics at their four locations (W St Paul, Brooklyn Park, St Paul, and Minneapolis) to continue providing vaccines to all eligible ages.
- The community vaccination event request form was closed to new requests on May 20 and the final events from that program will conclude on June 30.
- The collaboration with Metro Transit will end on June 30 so the mobile vaccination bus will no longer be available beyond that date.
Going forward, MDH will continue to ask communities for input and partnership as we work together to vaccinate all Minnesotans for COVID-19:
- The agency is developing plans to determine the best path forward for community vaccination efforts in support of the MDH Community Engagement contractors.
- Organizations interested in hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic may reach out to their regional Public Health Preparedness Consultants (PHPCs) to inquire about their local public health agency’s capacity to support such efforts.
- Continue to use the state's Vaccine Locator Map to find a vaccine provider near you.
