Today's COVID-19 updates include:

Status of COVID-19 in Minnesota

Status of COVID-19 in Minnesota:

Updated April 1, 2022

  • Total positive including reinfections: 1,430,089
  • Total positive people: 1,367,135
  • Newly reported cases: 546
  • Total deaths: 12,410
  • Newly reported deaths: 2
  • Total cases requiring hospitalization: 61,586
  • Total cases hospitalized in ICU: 11,394

Numbers are cumulative since Jan. 20, 2020.

The number of lab-confirmed positive tests among Minnesota residents will be updated daily on Situation Update for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) with test results from the previous day. The page also includes a map of counties with confirmed cases, and more.

This total reflects only the results from laboratory testing. There are more cases in Minnesota, and the virus is circulating in communities. It is important for everyone to follow advice on community mitigation and social distancing to help us flatten the case curve.

The Governor has launched a public dashboard which includes race data of cases: COVID-19 Data by Race/Ethnicity

Vaccine Data:

Updated March 28, 2022

  • People with at least one vaccine dose: 3,893,185
  • People with completed vaccine series: 3,682,482
  • People up to date with vaccine doses: 2,547,075

Vaccination Breakthrough Weekly Update:

Updated weekly, on Mondays at 11 a.m.

Updated March 28, 2022

  • Total number of fully vaccinated Minnesotans (as of 2/20/2022*): 3,634,398
  • Total number of vaccine breakthrough cases: 377,440
    • Percent of fully vaccinated people: 10.385%
  • Total cases hospitalized**: 10,540
    • Percent of fully vaccinated people: 0.290%
  • Total deaths***: 1,960
    • Percent of fully vaccinated people: 0.054%

*Fully vaccinated means that at least 14 days have passed since a person completed their COVID-19 vaccination series. A complete series can mean one or two doses of vaccine have been given, depending on the product. The number of fully vaccinated people will not be the same as the number with a complete vaccination series found on COVID-19 Vaccine Data. Case reporting and vaccine reporting have delays in addition to the time it takes to match case data to the Minnesota Immunization Information Connection. Case counts will typically reflect cases reported one or more weeks ago.
** Total cases hospitalized includes patients admitted for any reason within 14 days of a positive SARS-CoV-2 test.
*** Total deaths (also known as total deaths with laboratory testing) are deaths due to COVID-19 with a positive PCR test (confirmed case) or antigen test (probable case) for SARS-CoV-2, and either COVID-19 is listed on the death certificate or clinical history/autopsy findings that provide evidence that the death is related to COVID-19 without an alternative cause (e.g., drowning, homicide, trauma, etc). COVID-19 Vaccine Breakthrough Weekly Update

Webinars, Recordings and Videos

University of Minnesota

  • A community engaged approach to supporting recovery from Substance Use Disorders The University of Minnesota Extension Center for Family Development in partnership with the Center for Community Vitality, College of Pharmacy, Minnesota tribal communities and Minnesota county public health and health and human services partners have created an educational based recovery model that infuses education and training into the traditional treatment/recovery for Substance Use Disorders (SUDs). This webinar will show how education programming and resources have created space for interdisciplinary connections to be the “bridge” between treatment and recovery by providing research-informed, culturally appropriate education for individuals, families and communities to support sustainable recovery communities. Participants will have the opportunity to think about ways to prevent SUDs and support recovery in their own communities. Tuesday, April 5, 2022, from 1-2 p.m.
  • Justice in Public Health: Racism, not Race Join us on April 7 to hear a discussion from the authors of Racism not Race, Joseph L. Graves Jr. and Alan H. Goodman.
