Sage Screening Programs e-Update

March 18, 2020

Sage Program

Dear Sage Program Clinic Partners,

As we continue to navigate COVID-19 together, we want to keep all partners updated on any changes or recent developments related to our cancer and heart health screening programs. Sage, Sage Scopes and SagePlus remain committed to serving Minnesota’s underserved populations with cancer and heart health screening and diagnostic services. However, public health and medical experts in Minnesota are guiding us to conduct our work differently due to the immediate needs for COVID-19.

The Sage Programs have been closely monitoring and preparing for many possible scenarios.  Here are the latest updates relevant to Sage providers:

  • To the extent that providers are open and available, Sage is continuing to enroll and screen patients.
  • Communications from the Program may be delayed, as some staff have been deployed to assist with MDH COVID-19 response.
  • Essential services, including follow-up and diagnostic testing for patients who have had abnormal screening results and navigation to MABC for patients needing treatment coverage, remain staffed.
  • Patient enrollment, provider appointments and services, and Sage claim payments will be delayed.
  • Most staff will be teleworking and will be frequently checking voicemails and emails. Sites with immediate needs should contact our main line at 651-201-5600 or email us at
  • As the situation changes, we will be posting updates to the Sage website:
  • If your clinic or screening site is curtailing or canceling appointments for the Sage Programs, please let us know by submitting an email with specifics to This will allow us to reflect the changes in our scheduling system.

Looking ahead, Sage Programs will continue to follow guidance from state and national leadership in response to COVID-19. We will continue to keep you informed of program changes and adjustments. The entire Sage Program team remains fully committed to doing what’s best for our partners and the people of Minnesota. Thank you so much for your cooperation.
