Trainings for local food leaders around the state

From now to August 2020, the Minnesota Institute of Sustainable Agriculture (MISA) will provide trainings to local food leaders around the state. This is a great opportunity to create a resource in your county and strengthen local capacity for food systems work in your communities. 

What the local organizer will do:

  • Arrange a meeting space
  • Do local advertising
  • Recruit at least three local food leaders to participate in the training

What the local organizer will get:

  • $100 allowance to use as needed – venue rental, refreshments, printing additional binders, mileage for participants, local advertising, etc.
  • Communication and support from the project team

Get your schools involved in Winter Walk to School Day on Feb. 6 to get your students moving during this Minnesota winter.

Sign up at the Minnesota Walk and Bike to School Day registration page and you'll receive additional information, materials and incentives to get schools in your community involved in this statewide event.

Join the American Lung Association for Carbon Monoxide (CO) Monitor 101:  Understanding Tobacco and Treatment Referrals webinar. Participants will have a basic understanding of:

  • Prevalence of tobacco and who is using tobacco
  • Comprehensive health and financial impact of tobacco
  • Knowledge of key steps in making a tobacco dependence treatment referral
  • Ability to use a CO monitor to motivate others to make a quit attempt

Webinar: America Walks Creating Safer Streets for All

Pedestrian safety is a critical part of planning for healthy, active and engaged communities. At America Walks, we believe that a safe systems approach and built environment interventions are important to achieving fewer pedestrian injuries and fatalities. Attendees will learn about techniques and interventions to improve safety, including an overview of the safe systems approach, hear from communities taking steps to address safety concerns and be inspired to do the same and receive resources and ideas to begin addressing the safety in their own communities.
