Safe Routes to School

New evaluation and assessment tools

OSHII has partnered with the Minnesota Department of Transportation and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota to develop tools to help you assess schools and your progress with Safe Routes to School. The new tools, which can be found on the MN SRTS Resource Center, include:

• School Zone Hazard Observational Assessment
• School Environment and Policy Assessment
• SRTS Plan Implementation Survey
• School Implementation Progress Checklist

The August SRTS Network Call provided guidance on the use of these new tools.  Go to the Network Calls web page to access the recording.

Get on the contact list! The Minnesota Safe Routes to School Network call is a monthly knowledge sharing opportunity for communities working on Safe Routes to School. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Center for Prevention facilitates the call, typically held at 10 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month. If you aren’t on the list to receive information, please e-mail Jill Chamberlain at jill.chamberlain@bluecrossmn.com.
