This Week's Gem

construction worker at Hilltop Regional Kitchen

It's considered a gem in the Eagle Bend community, and soon, it will open its doors for the public.

That "gem" is the new Hilltop Regional Kitchen in Eagle Bend. As you can see in the photo, it was a large construction project that began last January. Now that construction is complete, it will be used to serve  Meals on Wheels, bundled meals and provide congregate dining.  The meals serve hundreds of area families across Todd, Wadena and Morrison counties.

SHIP staff assisted in the fundraising, volunteer coordination and marketing of the Hilltop Regional Kitchen.  More than $800,000 has been raised, with $200,000 of that coming from local residents and businesses. In addition, more than 100 volunteers helped bring the kitchen from concept to reality.

You can join them next week at an open house and ribbon cutting  ceremony on Nov. 15 from 1 -3 p.m. at 405 Main St. West in Eagle Bend.
