Rice County Complete Streets Training

After more than two years of discussions with partners on active living, Rice County hosted an all day, complete street training for 25 county and city staff, local elected officials and advocates.

The group met on Thursday, Aug. 24, and learned how complete street policies  can support communities and their vision for being more walkable and bikeable.  A walking audit during the training allowed attendee to experience a nearby intersection and  discuss how complete street concepts could be applied. Attendees left with the foundational knowledge they needed to move forward with partners to plan and design streets to better support walking and bicycling.  It also increased  awareness of how health and opportunities for routine walking and biking is impacted by street design and the build environment.

Way to go Rice County SHIP, for sponsoring the training, and to each of the participants.
