Soon
after first-time mom Kaitlyn Erickson of Merrifield gave birth to her son,
Kohen,
at
Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd, she decided she wanted
to nurse her son as long as possible. Thanks to the support of Crow Wing
Energized utilizing SHIP funds for local businesses to help set up lactation rooms
for breastfeeding employees and to
help pay for employees to become certified lactation counselors.
Ericson’s
employer Frandsen Bank provides such a room and she is able to able to pump
three times a day at work, providing breast milk to Kohen while he is at
daycare.
In
honor of World Breastfeeding Week, Aug. 1-7, we salute Kaitlyn Erickson, her
employer, Crow Wing Energized and all who support breastfeeding mothers and
babies health.
