Registration Now Open for Healthy Families America Community of Practice
The theme of this year’s Healthy Families America (HFA) Community of Practice (CoP) event is, “Making a Difference: Our HFA Family Working Together.” All staff (home visitors, parent visitors, supervisors, and program managers) working in affiliated, accredited or HFA-like programs in Minnesota are invited to attend. The next Family Home Visiting (FHV) Evaluation Work Group meeting is scheduled for this Thursday. Please note the earlier start time. Adversity and Resilience in Rice County
Thursday, February 9, 2017, 7:00-9:00 PM (CST) – Northfield, MN
Carleton College Public Health students, in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health, invite all Rice County Community members to attend this film screening and community dialogue exploring Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), toxic stress and the work being done in Rice County to address these issues. Training Opportunities Remain for Non-HFA Home Visiting Programs
Registration slots remain for the following trainings supported by the MDH FHV program. These trainings are for staff who are not working in the HFA home visiting model, but are interested in attending training in Integrated Strategies and Parent Survey. Supervisors and Program Managers who register for either Integrated Strategies or Parent Survey training should note there is a separate supervisor training day and registration required for each of these courses. GGK Training Registration Now Open
Registration opened last week for Growing Great Kids (GGK) training in Minnesota. Priority registration is being given to HFA-affiliated or accredited program staff who require curriculum training within six-months of hire and/or site affiliation/accreditation. If you are not HFA-affiliated or accredited, please e-mail health.fhv@state.mn.us to be placed on the wait list. Infants with Congenital Zika Virus Infection and their Families

This webinar, offered by the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD), will provide an overview of the Zika virus infection, updated case numbers for infants with congenital Zika virus infection, and useful resources for families and EI professionals. Findings on the potential clinical manifestations of congenital Zika virus infections will be discussed as well as the still evolving clinical, policy, and research implications for early intervention professionals. Creating a Trauma Informed Home Visiting Program Issue Brief
This January 2017 brief shares research on the impact and prevalence of trauma in the home visiting community, along with informed strategies on integrating a trauma-informed approach into existing systems of care. The brief includes snapshots from home visiting programs who are implementing trauma-informed practices, along with lessons learned, and suggested action steps.
The Importance of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation for Home Visiting
Linda Delimata is the Mental Health Consultation Director for the Illinois Children's Mental Health Partnership. In her role as lead for the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Consultation Project, she oversees MIECHV-funded consultation to 49 home visiting sites. This article shares Delimata's unique perspective on the importance of IECMHC in home visiting, and offers strategies that state and territory awardees can use to implement an IECMHC project.
