New research brief summarizes current research on elements of
the rural built environment that may be related to obesity and physical
activity.
Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota
has training sessions in September and October of the Walk! Bike! Fun!
Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Curriculum planned for Greater Minnesota and
encourages schools and community partners to invite teachers and other
educators. The trainings are FREE and open to people interested in teaching
the curriculum. More information and registration for the training

Celebrate Walk to School Day this fall!
Register your event at http://www.walkbiketoschool.org/ to be listed on the
national walk to school day participation map. Last October nearly 100
Minnesota schools registered events online.

CDC has launched a NEW Healthy Schools webpage with all
sorts of updates resources and messaging! One of the new models being
embraced is the WHOLE SCHOOL, WHOLE COMMUNITY, WHOLE CHILD. Check
out this new site and make sure to pass it along to your school partners too.
Shape America has released a new website dedicated to active
schools; “Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program or CSPAP."
