The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) is posting a second round of the Teacher Residency Program Grant, which is available to teacher preparation providers (TPPs) that meet the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board’s (PELSB) definition of a teacher residency. This may include registered teacher apprenticeship programs (RTAPs).
A total of $600,000 in funding is available to fund three new planning grants. Planning Grants support TPPs and their partners to plan new residency programs, to add new licensure areas to programs, and to plan new RTAPs. Grant applications will open soon. Information about the Teacher Residency Program Grant will be available on MDE’s grants webpage.

Are you interested and invested in addressing teacher shortages in Minnesota?
Would you be willing to give your time and talents to serve as a grant reviewer for one or more of these programs?
We are now recruiting reviewers for the Teacher Residency Grant competition.
This volunteer opportunity asks reviewers for an estimated 5-8 hours of time during the month of May, depending on number of applications and number of reviewers. Not only do many hands make light work, but many reviewers increase the quality of scores that applications receive.
If you are interested in reviewing for this grant opportunity, please contact Emily Busta.
If you are applying for this grant, you are not eligible to review. However, you could serve as a reviewer for other grant opportunities focusing on the educator workforce. To volunteer for other opportunities, contact our team at mde.workforcecenter@state.mn.us.
