Survey Feedback in Motion
The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE)/Ed-Fi Team has been facilitating an Ed-Fi experience survey twice a year since 2022. The purpose of the survey is to give district, charter, and Tribally Controlled School respondents the opportunity to share their ongoing experiences with data submission via Ed-Fi. MDE/Ed-Fi has garnered many useful pieces of information through the survey feedback and continuous improvement efforts from survey respondent input include the following:
- Issues and Bugs resource for districts
- EDVP changes
- Added trainings and recorded trainings
- Regularly scheduled meetings with vendors
- School leaders listening sessions
- Addition of technical support staff
- Optional 1:1 bookings for support

Discontinuation of Digital Equity Role in the EDVP
Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, Digital Equity data will no longer be collected. Thank you to everyone who has taken on the task of submitting the data during the past several years. Your hard work is appreciated.
Due to the discontinuation of the Digital Equity data collection, we will be removing the Digital Equity Security Role in the Ed-Fi Data Validation Portal (EDVP) after February 18. If you currently have this role, you will receive an email stating that your access has been revoked when the role is removed. This only effects the Digital Equity role and will not impact the EDVP EDIAM Security Roles for MCCC, MARSS, or Early Education. MDE will retain any Digital Equity data you have sent this year, but it will no longer be viewable in the EDVP after February 18.

Early Childhood Health and Developmental Screening
Early Childhood Health and Developmental Screening programs use the MARSS PS generated state aid to serve children between the ages of three and seven years. Please assure MARSS PS records are assigned for screenings completed by the district as well as those submitted by parents and completed by Head Start, Child and Teen Checkups, Private Providers (clinics) or if the parent conscientiously objects to meet the statutory requirement. Minn. Stat. 142D.091 (2024).
This is a dual submission year, so districts may partner with their student information system vendors to assure all screenings are submitted via Ed-Fi. Until a district has certified to submit via Ed-Fi only, they must continue to submit MARSS A/B file uploads for state screening aid.
If you have questions, contact Margo Chresand (Margaret.Chresand@state.mn.us).

Update to MCCC Staff Section Course Dynamic Report
A district reported an issue to MDE regarding the MCCC Staff Section Course dynamic report in EDVP. MDE investigated the examples and determined that a programming change was needed. This change was completed on January 27.
Before The columns Local Course Code, School ID, and School Year were all derived from the Ed-Fi Section data submitted to MDE. If a course was sent to MDE without a related section, these key fields were empty. This issue made it impossible for the report user to determine the problem and find the related data in their SIS.
After The columns Local Course Code, School ID, and School Year will now auto populate with information from the Ed-Fi Course Offering data submitted to MDE. This will allow report users to easily identify which courses have been reported without sections and which schools the courses are in.
