Dear School and District Leaders,
Yesterday’s tragic events, as well as increased federal immigration enforcement, are weighing heavily on our communities. Now more than ever, we must come together and support the safety of our students and communities.
The Minnesota Department of Education remains committed to ensuring every child—of every background and ability, and regardless of immigration status—deserves access to a world-class education. We will continue to advocate for the stability, resources, and policies that ensure every student is safe and has the opportunity to succeed.
We have received many questions about online options. Here is information about options available under Minnesota statute.
Districts and charter schools may create cooperative agreements to provide online instruction to their students. Leaders may want to consider forming agreements with experienced supplemental online providers to meet the needs of their students. MDE staff are available to consult with leaders who are considering online instruction. Contact MDE Online Learning (mde.onlinelinelearning@state.mn.us) for support.
Thank you for your continued commitment to student learning, safety, and well-being.
