SUN Bucks Program Bulletin – Week of August 25, 2025

Reminder – Upload Student Data by Friday, September 5

The SUN Bucks EDU-Portal/Summer EBT is open through the summer, with a final deadline of September 5, 2025. Submitting data promptly helps families receive benefits without delay, ensuring students have the healthy meals they need.

Please include all sites where meals are served—including non-public/private schools, alternative learning centers, and intermediate district programs. If you are unsure, check the Organization ID List 2024–25 on the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) SUN Bucks Program webpage.

To support your outreach, please see the SUN Bucks Outreach Toolkit for Schools and Districts has been uploaded to the MDE SUN Bucks webpage. This toolkit makes it easy to share SUN Bucks information with families in clear, ready-to-use formats like newsletter blurbs, robocalls and text messages, social media posts, and more.

Cards Delivered to Schools

When the SUN Bucks card distribution method chosen is “School,” student EBT cards will arrive at the school site where the student is enrolled. Once the card arrives at the school, school officials can choose to have cards available at the most appropriate location for card pick-up. Most cards should arrive within two weeks of benefits being issued to the student. They will come individually in white envelopes with the student’s name appearing on the outside of the envelope. There is no need to open the envelope. Schools must do the following:

  • Maintain a SUN Bucks card-tracking log
  • Develop a plan to keep SUN Bucks cards secure
  • Develop a plan for distributing cards

For more information on each of these steps, please visit the School Distribution of SUN Bucks Cards document under the SUN Bucks Program Resources drawer on the MDE SUN Bucks webpage.

Change of Address

If a family needs to report a change of address, please direct them to fill out the SUN Bucks Help Form from the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) SUN Bucks website. MDE is unable to change any addresses that are updated in the portal once data has been transferred to DCYF.
