Reminder for K-8 Computer Science Reporting

K-8 MCCC course reporting should also include Computer Science offerings. To be reported as computer science the course would include the topics below in the course classification description for 10023 Computer Science (prior-to-secondary).

10023 Computer Science (prior-to-secondary)
Courses in this classification cover basic principles of computer science. In these courses, students learn how to develop and follow basic algorithms, collect and organize data, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and think critically about online safety and responsibility. Topics may also include modeling network and transmission protocols; transforming data using computational tools; iteratively developing, testing, and documenting programs; computational thinking; and addressing bias and accessibility in the design and development of technologies. Courses may include learning about emerging technologies.

Save the Date: Spring Training for New MCCC Reporters

Dates:

Go to the MDE calendar for links to the training. No registration needed.
The training will be an overview of MCCC data entry, data sending and data review, and validation resources. This is intended for any staff that will interact with MCCC reporting from the data entry, data sending and reviewing, and validating the records sent.

Special MCCC Reporting Consideration

Organizations are expected to report MCCC course taking for all courses for which they provide the instruction. All students who take that instruction from your organization are reported together, usually in Ed-Fi.

A few school sites serve students who are non-district or non-MARSS enrolled; these school sites cannot report course taking in Ed-Fi. If your school site provides instruction for non-district or non-MARSS enrolled students, you still need to report course taking. To do so, please contact MCCC Product Manager, Karen Millette about how your school will need to report MCCC data. Karen is also hosting two trainings for these schools who need to report this data outside of Ed-Fi. They will be held on Microsoft Teams on:
