CTE Month logo

Each February CTE Month is recognized to celebrate the importance of career and technical education (CTE) in preparing students for their futures. The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) has developed resources to help you inform your local communities and partners about the important work being done nationally and statewide—as well as templates you may use to share your local accomplishments (for example, consider sharing your accomplishments at an upcoming School Board meeting or some other districtwide communication forum). These resources include:

  • CTE Month Logos and Zoom Backgrounds
  • Social Media Kit
  • Teach CTE Recruitment Kit
  • CTE Advocacy Toolkit
  • CTE Month Presentations and Videos

2025-2026 Program Approval

CTE teachers and leaders in the following Perkins consortia will engage in training provided by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) CTE Unit this spring to prepare for the five-year renewal of their approved CTE programs:

  • Riverland
  • Rochester/ZED
  • Southeast

School districts in these consortia with approved CTE programs will be renewing programs with approvals that expire on June 30, 2025. The Program Approval renewal will be for five years beginning with the 2025-26 school year. Submission of completed applications can begin after June 1, 2025, with a submission deadline of November 1, 2025.

Training and support will be provided both through recorded webinars and follow-up technical assistance sessions led by MDE Career Field Specialists. These sessions are recommended for teams of local administrators and CTE teachers who will be completing the Program Approval renewal applications.

Registration for Minnesota Business Venture

Registration is open for students in grades 9-12 to attend the Minnesota Business Venture (MBV) camp this summer at the University of St. Thomas. Students can participate in the camp during one of two weeks: June 28-July 3, or July 18-23.

MBV is a summer camp program where students learn about themselves, emerging career pathway options, practice teamwork and public speaking, and meet peers and business leaders from around the state. It is a unique opportunity to live on a college campus, network with entrepreneurs and business professionals, learn the basics of building a business, explore potential career and college pathways, and hear from amazing speakers. At MBV, students work in small teams or "companies" to create a fictitious product and business plan that is presented at the end of the session, "Shark Tank"-style. Other activities include keynote speakers, mock interviews, breakout sessions and team-building exercises.

Registration cost is $200 per student for applications submitted before April 18. Applications submitted after April 18 cost $300 per student. Scholarships and financial assistance are available. Share this MBV promotional video with your students, as well as this link for MBV registration.

BestPrep staff member Xavier Thomas is available to provide classroom presentations about MBV. You can also send an email to MBV for more information.
