Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (S-EBT) Bulletin for Week of August 12, 2024

S-EBT Portal Final Deadline

The final deadline to upload S-EBT student data for summer 2024 S-EBT benefits is fast approaching. The S-EBT portal is now open for data upload of any missed and newly eligible students. After September 6, 2024, the portal will close, and schools will not be able to upload student data. Missing student data not uploaded into the portal cannot be included in the eligibility determination and benefit issuance process.

Application for Educational Benefits

Schools participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or School Breakfast Program (SBP) are encouraged to advertise that students could qualify for S-EBT through the Application for Educational Benefits or Alternative Application for Educational Benefits. Households are highly encouraged to complete these applications regardless of their income. Households have until August 31, 2024, to turn in applications for S-EBT 2024 benefits. Students with an approved free and reduced-price meals application must be entered into the S-EBT portal by September 6, 2024.

Households should still complete and turn in Application for Educational Benefits or Alternative Application for Educational Benefits for school year (SY) 2024–25. S-EBT 2025 benefit eligibility determination will utilize approved free and reduced-price meals applications for SY 2024–25.

Minnesota Automated Reporting Student System (MARSS)
2024–25

Students who newly qualify through a free and reduced-price meals application on or after July 1, 2024, must have their economic eligibility updated in 2024–25 submitted MARSS by the September 6, 2024 deadline. The economic eligibility includes economic indicators, homeless and migrant status.

S-EBT Cards

Students who qualified for an S-EBT 2024 benefit after the May 31, 2024 deadline will start receiving cards in the coming weeks. Households with multiple students may not receive all cards at the same time. Households should wait to contact the S-EBT call center regarding card delivery until late August 2024.

S-EBT Cards Mailed to Schools

S-EBT cards will arrive at schools in the coming weeks. Schools that opted for this preference, please follow the instructions in the School Distribution of S-EBT Cards document.
