Each February "CTE Month" is recognized to celebrate the importance of career and technical education in preparing students for their futures. The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) has developed resources to help you inform your local communities and partners about the important work being done nationally and statewide – as well as templates you may use to share your local accomplishments! (Consider sharing your accomplishments at an upcoming School Board meeting or some other districtwide communication forum!) These resources include:
- Logos and Zoom Backgrounds
- Social Media Kit
- Teach CTE Recruitment Kit
- CTE Advocacy Toolkit
- CTE Month Presentations

School districts in these consortia with approved CTE programs will be renewing programs that "expire" on June 30, 2024. The Minnesota Society of CPAs (MNCPA) Scholars program is a mentorship and career awareness program that exposes minority high school students to the CPA profession. During this year-long program, MNCPA Scholars receive up-close, real-world insight into the profession through mentorship and events while learning valuable professional skills. This program is open to minority high school juniors and seniors at no personal cost. Upon successful completion of the program, scholars receive a $1,000 academic gift. It is based in the Twin Cities Metro area with most events being held at the MNCPA office in Bloomington.
The program provides opportunities for students to explore career pathways in Accounting that they may not have considered. The MNCPA is currently seeking candidates for the 2024-25 academic year. Speakers are available to share information with your students and answer questions. Contact Amy Johnston for more information or to set up a meeting.
Registration is open for students to attend Minnesota Business Venture (MBV) at the University of St. Thomas in July. Business and Marketing students can participate in the camp during one of two weeks: July 7-12, or July 21-26.
MBV is a summer camp program where students learn about themselves, career options they may never have heard of, practice teamwork and public speaking, and meet peers and business leaders from around the state. It is a unique opportunity to live on a college campus, network with entrepreneurs and business professionals, learn the basics of building a business, and hear from amazing speakers.
Students who apply early will save $100. Early bird registration is due by Friday, April 19. Registration for the first session closes when at capacity or June 21, whichever comes first. Registration for the second session closes when at capacity or July 5, whichever comes first. Share this MBV promotional video with your students, as well as this link for MBV registration.
