Requirement Reminder: Allowable Costs
For a cost to be allowable, it must be necessary and reasonable in meeting the unique purpose of the specific federal fund. To clarify, the Distinct Purposes of ESEA Title Funds is available on MDE’s ESEA webpage. Depending on the cost, there may be other more specific requirements. In general, the cost must be consistent with a written plan and/or procedure and also be supplemental to what would occur without the availability of federal funds. For more information, please refer to guidance documents found on the ESEA website or contact the program specialist or monitor for the specific fund.
