Induction and Mentoring Updates
Mentor Professional Learning Series
Are you a mentor looking to elevate your impact on those you guide? Join the New Teacher Center (NTC) and the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) for the Effective Mentorship through Key Instructional Practices professional learning series for mentors of new teachers. This professional learning series for mentors is the perfect opportunity to sharpen your skills and take your mentoring to the next level.
Each of the following sessions in the series will take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m.:
- Building Strong Relationships (November 1, 2023):
Learn the art of building deep and meaningful connections with your mentees and fostering trust and growth.
- Mastering Mentoring Stances (December 5, 2023):
Discover various mentoring roles and when to employ them for maximum effectiveness, whether as a guide, coach, or collaborator.
- Refining Coaching Language (February 21, 2024):
Develop the language and communication techniques that empower mentees to reflect, explore, and achieve their goals.
- Harnessing Instructionally Focused Tools (April 15, 2024):
Acquire a toolbox of mentoring strategies and resources tailored to promote instructional excellence and drive results.
Participants will have an opportunity to learn, practice, and develop a plan for mentoring practice. This mentor series is intended for coaches not participating in the statewide induction and mentoring pilot.
Registration for Effective Mentorship Through Key Instructional Practices Professional Learning Series will include enrollment in all session dates and will be limited to 75 participants.

School and District Induction Leader Professional Learning Series
Are you ready to create or expand a nurturing environment for your new educators, ensuring their success from day one? Join the New Teacher Center (NTC) and the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) in the Building an Induction and Mentoring Program professional learning series designed to support school and district leaders in establishing or enhancing a strong foundation for new teacher support.
Each of the following sessions in the series will take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m.:
- Unpacking the Minnesota Induction Framework (November 2, 2023):
Gain a deep understanding of the Minnesota Induction Framework, a cornerstone of effective mentorship and support for educators.
- Building a Strong Foundation (December 1, 2023):
Learn the first steps to construct a comprehensive and impactful induction program, setting the stage for educator growth and success.
- Diving into Instructional Mentoring Tools (February 13, 2024):
Explore high-leverage instructional mentoring tools that empower educators to excel in the classroom, driving student achievement.
- Mastering Mentor Selection and Pairing (May 20, 2024):
Discover the key tenets for selecting and pairing mentors with mentees, ensuring a meaningful and supportive mentorship relationship.
This series provides school and district leaders with the knowledge and strategies to support or enhance a thriving induction and mentoring program that nurtures educators and enhances overall school success. This mentor series is intended for school and district induction leaders not participating in the statewide induction and mentoring pilot.
