Blind/Visually Impaired Advisory Committee Vacancies

We will have six open seats on our Advisory Committee for the Blind/Visually Impaired (BVI) on June 30, 2023, and would appreciate your support with recruiting individuals who may be interested in participating.

Current Vacancies

Interagency/Program Representative (one seat); Parent Representative (two seats); School/Related Service Personnel (one seat); School Administrator (one seat); Student Representative (one seat).

Visit the Open Positions page. Scroll down to find the correct Agency/Board/Council. Choose the correct seat type and click button that says Apply. The system will walk you through creating an application profile.

Page 2 of the application will now allow you to attach a letter of interest and resume or biography.

Applicants are encouraged to use the online application as the Appointing Authority will have access to your information as soon as it is submitted.

Applications submitted via downloadable application may experience some delay in reaching the Appointing Authority. You may also download a paper applications and submit it by email to Official.Documents@state.mn.us or by mail or in person to:

Grant Funds for Part C Loan Forgiveness, Retention Incentives

A new Part C American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds grant has been posted. This grant is a request for proposals (RFP) supporting up to $2,500 in loan forgiveness and/or retention incentives for Part C staff meeting the criteria in the application.

We hope all eligible programs will take advantage of this opportunity for staff who qualify. Applications made by school districts on behalf of Part C practitioners are due to mde.compgrants@state.mn.us by 5 p.m. on May 26, 2023. Late applications will not be accepted.

Negative Prompting Reframed: Supporting Students with Emotional Behavior Disorders (EBD) and Students at Risk of School Drop Out

MDE is continuing its webinar series into the 2022-23 school year. The series is provided to help support educators in the implementation of proactive and positive evidence-based strategies and resources, to highlight local examples of work that is being done to align systems of support across needs of diverse learners, to provide information on specific disabilities and to include voices of individuals and families within the community alongside educators and community organizations. We are excited to announce our next webinar in the Special Education Trainings series.
