Special Food Distribution Program Updates for August 18, 2022
As a result of ongoing national supply chain issues, we are providing an update on school year (SY) 2022-2023 cancellations or delays for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foods Distribution Program. Please review your Cyber-Linked Interactive Child Nutrition System (CLiCS) Sponsor Entitlement and Monitor Food Movement Screens on an ongoing basis. Adjustments have been made and occur daily as trucks are updated to assist with forecasting and planning.
USDA Foods State Warehouse and Distribution Model
Effective (SY) 2022-2023, the new state warehouse is Wissota Soldier Trucking in St. Paul, Minnesota. All distributor teams have been informed and sponsors will incur some cost adjustments to your distributor contracts. You will receive more detailed information regarding pricing from your chosen distributor before school resumes. We covered the new warehouse and distribution model extensively at the Minnesota School Nutrition Association (MNSNA) Conference last week. Registered participants can visit the SNA website to view the USDA presentation.
There are still a number of sponsors that have not selected a distributor for next year. Many trucks have arrived and until confirmed, no company is getting notifications to receive your food. SY 2022-2023 USDA Direct Delivery and Processing Updates
Due to a substantial shortfall in crops, raw materials or labor, the items below were canceled for July to October requested deliveries. USDA and the procurement team will not be rebidding these trucks from last spring. The cancellations should be completed and the transactions reversed back to you before the opening of the fall store.

Canned apple products that includes items 100206 APPLE SLICES CAN-6/10, 110361 APPLESAUCE CUP-96/4.5, and 110541 APPLESAUCE UNSWEETENED CAN-6/10, had a slight shortfall, however, USDA is confident the remaining orders will be purchased. All of the quarterly frozen fruit items including items, 100242 BLUEBERRY WILD FRZ CTN-8/3 LB, have all been purchased.
Also, a major fruit vendor has dropped from all USDA bidding because of resources causing a decrease to all seasonal fruit orders nationwide. USDA is pursuing this for rebid, but at this time MDE has chosen to cancel the trucks to reverse the entitlement back to sponsors for reallocation. You can reorder the items on the fall store, however, new orders will not arrive until December and later. The 100220 items and sales orders below have been canceled. The 100212 and 100225 trucks are currently on bid invitation and we remain hopeful for these deliveries.

For Net Off Invoice (NOI) & Fee-for-Service (FFS) Processing, 100154 Beef across processors are still challenging but some have seen improvement in their inventory. Confer with your broker, distributor and processor representatives for this and all the items below regarding availability for your menu planning. The Cargill 100047 egg product line is plentiful but has been greatly reduced to only five items, all other items have been suspended until next year or permanently discontinued.
Recovery of SY 2021-2022 processing carryover pounds will occur in October. Continue placing orders in an effort to draw down your banks as much as you are able.

The USDA Foods Fall Store Opening
The fall store will open August 29 – September 14. All cancellations will be completed in the CLiCS system and entitlement transactions reversed for your use on the fall store. Our complete item listing will be offered this fall. Again, review your entitlement and food movement screens regularly for updates and compare your order history to your spring requests. We will do our best to keep you informed of all changes as we receive them from our national team.
