General Updates
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently released School Year 2021-22 P-EBT guidance. The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) is currently reviewing the guidance and will be submitting a P-EBT individual state plan to USDA for approval. In the next several months, MDE and Minnesota Information Technology (MN.IT) staff will be developing a revised technology solution to accommodate school year 2021-22 and summer 2021 phase 2 student data (eligibility described below).
In the meantime, take the following steps:
- Date stamp all incoming 2021-22 Applications for Educational Benefits
- Track students who may be eligible for 2021 summer phase 2 benefits who were:
- Enrolled in the last month of the 2020-21 school year
- Not eligible for free or reduced-price meals in the 2020-21 school year, but became eligible after July 1, 2021, via:
- Do not enter these students into the portal at this time. Wait for additional guidance via the P-EBT bulletin.

P-EBT Portal is Now Read-Only
The P-EBT portal is now read-only and additional uploads or adjustments to existing data can no longer be made. To determine if existing student data has been transferred to the Department of Human Services (DHS):
- Refer to the Benefit Transfer Status last updated date on the portal homepage. When this changes to a September date (in the second week of September), reports available in the portal will show the final status of whether individual student data was transferred to DHS.

- Use the dashboard tile on the portal homepage called Students Not Sent to DHS to identify any ineligible students. When talking with households, let them know that no further adjustments can be made and to stay tuned for information about School Year 2021-22 P-EBT benefits.
