Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) Payment to School Food Authorities (SFAs)

Per Governor Walz’s Executive Order 20-41, item 23, unused state funds from the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP) state match was divided among eligible SFAs after June 30, 2020. The money was distributed on a per meal rate based on SFSP meals served from March 16, 2020 to June 30, 2020.

Meals and Meal Rates:

There were approximately 33 million meals served by school food authorities during this timeframe and $8.2 million dollars to be redistributed. This equated to approximately $0.25/meal.

Payment and Coding Revenue:

Payments began to show in the Cyber-Linked Interactive Child Nutrition System (CLiCS) on September 11, 2020. The account code to record this revenue is 02-005-770-709-300-000.
