Summer Feeding Nationwide Waiver Extensions

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) recently released the following nationwide waiver extensions for summer feeding programs for use through September 30, 2020, or for the duration of summer operations, whichever is earlier:

• The Nationwide Waiver to Allow Non-congregate Feeding in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) – EXTENSION 3 allows SFSP meals to be consumed offsite.
• The Nationwide Waiver to Allow Meal Pattern Flexibility in the SFSP – EXTENSION 6 allows for meal pattern modification due to COVID-19-related supply chain disruption.
• The Nationwide Waiver to Extend Area Eligibility Waivers – EXTENSION allows SFSP sites operating under Minnesota’s Area Eligibility Waiver to continue doing so through the end of summer programming in September.
• The Nationwide Waiver to Allow Parents and Guardians to Pick up Meals for Children – EXTENSION 3 allows SFSP and Seamless Summer Option (SSO) non-congregate meals to be picked up by parents or guardians without children present.
