Verification Reminder

The CLiCS Verification Reporting system will be open beginning November 1, 2019. Verification activity must be completed by November 15, but can be reported if completed early starting November 1. The deadline to report the results of verification activity to the Minnesota Department of Education is December 2, 2019.

It is recommended that you print your blank verification report from CLiCS ahead of time to gather the data requested. Resources to assist you in reporting verification are available on the Minnesota Department of Education website at:

Changes to “Tuesdays @ 2” Webinars

The state of Minnesota is consolidating all agency WebEx accounts into one Minnesota WebEx account at the end of October 2019. WebEx is the platform used to host the “Tuesdays @ 2” webinars. Registration links for the new platform have been updated and are available on the MDE website at  Tuesdays @ 2 School Nutrition Webinar Schedule 2019-20. The functionality of the new platform does not require any changes to your computer to view the webinar. Due to the new platform, recordings of webinars are not available at this time.

Webinar on Healthy Schools Toolkit

Health Equity Works, an initiative housed at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, has developed a tool to help schools and school districts strategize to build healthier school communities that support the whole child. They will introduce this Healthy Schools Toolkit in a webinar on Thursday, November 14, from 1-2 p.m.

Opportunities from Our Partners

Grant Opportunities for Expanding School Breakfast and At-Risk Afterschool Meals

Second Harvest Heartland and their partners are offering two grant opportunities for Minnesota sponsors: The “Breakfast After the Bell” and the “At-Risk Afterschool Meals” grants. Grant Applications are due by November 15, 2019. Sponsors and sites may apply for up to $5,000 in grant awards.  

 

Breakfast After the Bell Grant Opportunity

This grant will support schools with the purchase of approved equipment, materials and initiatives facilitating breakfast after the bell delivery in an effort to increase student participation in school breakfast. Learn more about this grant opportunity.

 

At-Risk Afterschool Meals Grant Opportunity

The “At-Risk Afterschool Meal” opportunity is offered to eligible sponsors/sites starting new CACFP supper programs or expanding current At-Risk program access. Funding may be used for equipment, staffing, transportation, materials or enrichment program costs. Learn more about this grant opportunity.
