Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act

The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) is dedicated to increasing learner access to high-quality Career and Technical programs of study. Minnesota State and The Minnesota Department of Education invite school administrators, teachers, parents, and the members of the community to attend and participate in public hearings to discuss the changes to Minnesota’s four-year plan for Career and Technical Education.

Minnesota Student Survey

The 2019 Minnesota Student Survey (MSS) results are now available. State, county and district results can be viewed and downloaded from the MDE website online interactive report. Data requests for the MSS data can be filled out on the MSS Data Request Form and User Agreement website. Please email MDE.StudentSurvey@state.mn.us if you have any questions.

Stay Tuned: Combined World’s Best Workforce Summary and Achievement and Integration Progress Report

We will soon provide the link and additional information on a new submission format for the Combined World’s Best Workforce Summary and Achievement and Integration Progress Report. This will be an opportunity for districts to report progress from the 2018-19 school year. Once the online form is available, it will be accessible until the due date of December 15, 2019. Stay tuned to this mailing in the next couple weeks to learn more information and get access to the new summary report form!

Racial Equity Leadership Institute

The sixth annual Racial Equity Leadership Institute for educational leadership teams will be held Thursday, January 30, 2020, at the Minnesota Department of Education. Dr. Muhammad Khalifa will be the keynote presenter. This Institute is designed to empower leadership teams in K-12, higher education, or other educational settings to sharpen their critical consciousness and their ability to drive real, sustainable, systemic change in their organizations. Applications to participate are due November 4, 2019. These meetings are designed for leaders to give and receive support; administrators and teacher leaders who are passionate about leading change in mathematics education for all students. Anyone who is in a department or team, school, or district leadership position is encouraged to attend.

Sessions will focus on addressing equity issues in K-12 mathematics classrooms.
