The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is now taking applications for the Agricultural Growth, Research and Innovation (AGRI) Farm to School Grants. The MDA will award up to $374,000 for eligible education organizations to increase the use of Minnesota grown and raised foods through planning and feasibility studies, or equipment purchases and physical improvements.
There are two kinds of AGRI Farm to School Grants:
- Planning grants help education organizations create plans that identify specific equipment, tools, training or policies needed to encourage the purchase, preparation, and serving Minnesota grown and raised foods.
- Equipment purchase and physical improvement grants help education organizations purchase equipment and update relevant infrastructure to allow for increased purchase, preparation, and serving of Minnesota grown and raised food.
Applications for Farm to School Grants are due by November 7, 2019, by 4 p.m. CST. For more information and to apply, go to the AGRI Farm to Schools Grants website.

Results from the North Star accountability system will be released in August. The major dates for release are:
- Monday, August 26 – embargoed release of the public North Star file to districts
- Wednesday, August 28 at 12 noon – embargoed release of the public North Star file to the press
- Thursday, August 29 at 12 noon – public release, including updated data on the Minnesota Report Card, and general availability of the public North Star file
As of noon on Wednesday, August 7, district and school staff with secure reports access were be able to see data for the North Star accountability system. In the Accountability Secure Reports section of secure reports, users can access the North Star Report, located in the Minnesota Department of Education Data Center >Secure Reports>Accountability Secure Reports Section. This report provides information about school and district performance on each indicator in the North Star system. Users can also download secure rosters for: academic achievement and progress; progress toward English language proficiency; and consistent attendance (secure rosters for graduation have been available since the spring).
