2019-20 Reimbursement Rates Announced

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has notified state agencies of the updated 2019-20 federal nutrition program reimbursement rates.

The rates are not yet published in the Federal Register, but more information on the rates is included below in the Child and Adult Care Food Programs (CACFP) and School Nutrition Program (SNP) sections, respectively.

Child and Adult Care Food Programs (CACFP)

2019-20 Reimbursement Rates for CACFP

The USDA has announced 2019-20 reimbursement rates for the following CACFP programs to state agencies, including MDE:

  • CACFP for Centers
  • CACFP for Family Day Care Homes
  • At-Risk Afterschool Meals

The USDA has not yet announced the additional “cash-in-lieu-of” payments for lunches/suppers, which they will publish separately. 

The USDA has not yet published the reimbursement rates in the Federal Register, but will do so soon. In the meantime, you can see the updated rates on MDE's  2019-20 Reimbursement Rates for CACFP Info Sheet.

Feeding Infants in the CACFP: Print Copies Available

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has print copies available of Feeding Infants in the Child and Adult Care Food Program guide for sponsoring organizations, child care centers, and family day care homes that participate in the CACFP. There is no charge for the printed materials. Order print copies from the Government Publishing Office.

School Nutrition Programs

2019-20 Reimbursement Rates for School Nutrition Programs (SNP)

The USDA has announced 2019-20 reimbursement rates for the following programs to state agencies, including MDE:

  • National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP)
  • Special Milk Program
  • Afterschool Snacks

Note that these rates do not include the entitlement value for USDA Foods, which the USDA will announce separately.  

The USDA has not yet published the reimbursement rates in the Federal Register, but will do so soon. In the meantime, you can see the updated rates on MDE's 2019-20 Reimbursement Rates for NSLP, SBP, Special Milk, and the Afterschool Snack Program info sheet.

Get Schools Cooking Grant

Application Opens Monday, August 19

Get Schools Cooking (previously known as the School Food Support Initiative), a program of Chef Ann Foundation,  provides school districts with technical assistance and funding to help transition their Food and Nutrition Service departments from a “heat and serve” or processed food model, to one that is rooted in scratch cooking using real ingredients.

Through Get Schools Cooking, food service teams are guided through an intensive, three-year program. The 2019 grant application period will open August 19, 2019. Learn more about the grant on the Chef Ann Foundation website.
