Federal Government Shutdown Update
As you may have heard, Congress developed a compromise budget proposal that funds the federal government through September 30, 2019 (the end of the federal fiscal year). The President signed the budget proposal so a second partial federal shutdown will not occur.
Infant Room Resources
The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently released the Breastfed Babies Welcome Here resources. Child and Adult Care Food Programs (CACFP) operators can use these resources to let mothers and families know that breastfed babies are welcome at their child care site. These resources support the implementation of the CACFP Meal Pattern, which allows for reimbursement of meals when the mother provides breastmilk or directly breastfeeds her infant at the child care center or home.

USDA Foods Spring Surveys Opening Soon
The school year 2019-20 USDA Foods surveys will be opening soon. A separate message with more information will be sent to the SNP and Food Distribution Program subscriber lists when the surveys are open. All surveys will close on March 22, 2019.

Minnesota Institute of Sustainable Agriculture (MISA) Trainings for Local Food Leaders
From now to August 2020, the Minnesota Institute of Sustainable Agriculture (MISA) will provide trainings to local food leaders around the state. This is a great opportunity to create a resource in your county and strengthen local capacity for food systems work in your communities. Who should attend? Action for Healthy Kids
Action for Healthy Kids has three grant opportunities available. Applications are due by April 5, 2019. The grants focus on expanding school breakfast, improving nutrition and physical activity, and expanding parent-led wellness opportunities. Learn more about AFHK school grants.
