2019-20 Forms Being Finalized

The date to provide feedback on the draft detailed demographic collection form, parent letter, and frequently asked questions was Friday, August 3. The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) worked to incorporate all feedback into the 2019-20 forms. The final 2019-20 forms are posted to the Counting all Students page in English. The forms will be translated into the languages that the 2018-19 forms were and we are expecting these to be available on the web page sometime in September 2018.

District Outreach

MDE continues to increase awareness of the requirements and the implementation details of the legislation. In addition to two presentations in August (August 8 and August 9), MDE also sent out electronic announcements geared towards educators and district staff. We will continue to inform and support all schools and districts as we move toward statewide implementation in the 2019-20 school year.

Counting All Students

The All Kids Count Act is legislation that requires the Minnesota Department of Education to collect more detailed ancestry or ethnic origin information about students in order to better understand and identify educational needs of all students in Minnesota.
