2019-20 Forms Being Finalized

The sample detailed demographics collection form, parent letter, and frequently asked questions to be used for statewide implementation in 2019-20 school year are in the process of being finalized. A draft of the 2019-20 Ethnic and Racial Demographic Designation Form is available on the Counting all Students page.

If you would like to provide feedback on the 2018-19 draft collection form to inform the documents used during the 2019-20 school year but were not able to attend one of the July stakeholder feedback meetings please contact mde.cas@state.mn.us. Please provide comments by Friday, August 3.

Final versions of the documents for the 2019-20 statewide implementation will be posted as soon as they are available.

District Outreach

On Wednesday, August 8, MDE staff will present the implementation of Counting all Students at the MDE Back to School Conference: Minnesota's Commitment to Educational Equity. This is a two-day conference in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota Association of School Administrators. Thursday, August 9 MDE staff will present the implementation of Counting all Students at the A+ Conference. Both of these conferences provide information prior to the start of school activities.

We will use these presentations to increase awareness of the requirements and the implementation details of the legislation. MDE is working to inform all schools and districts well in advance of the statewide implementation in 2019-20 school year.

Counting All Students

The All Kids Count Act is legislation that requires the Minnesota Department of Education to collect more detailed ancestry or ethnic origin information about students in order to better understand and identify educational needs of all students in Minnesota.
