Welcome!
New legislation requires the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) to report graduation rates, results of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs), and more, by detailed ethnicity for students of color and American Indian students. This legislation is referred to as the “All Kids Count Act,” and the more detailed reporting is called data disaggregation. The goal of collecting more detailed ancestry or ethnic origin information is to better understand and identify educational needs of all students in Minnesota.
During the 2018-19 school year, we will be working with five partner school districts or charter schools to develop best practices: Community of Peace Academy, Minnetonka Public Schools, Schoolcraft Learning Community, St. Paul Public Schools, and Worthington Public Schools. All Minnesota districts and charter schools will be included in the statewide implementation in the 2019-20 school year, so it is important to start preparing now.
The Counting All Students newsletter will help keep stakeholders informed of the process of implementing the All Kids Count Act, including important updates, engagement opportunities and more.
