Child and Adult Care Food Program Updates

Registration is Open for CACFP Basic Training 2018

This in-person workshop provides basic information on the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The target audience is new directors, program coordinators, or center staff with CACFP responsibilities at child care centers and adult care centers participating in CACFP. Each workshop will be held from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and will cover the same content. Visit the registration page (CACFP Basic Training 2018) for more details and to register.

Tuesdays @ 2 Webinars

A variety of topics will be offered during this year’s Tuesdays@2 webinar series. All webinars begin at 2 p.m. and will be 30-60 minutes in length, unless otherwise noted. Registration and session information will be posted on the Training: School Nutrition Programs webpage.

January 9 – Direct Certification of Students for Free Meal Benefits

Both public and non-public school nutrition sponsors must use direct certification to quality students for few meal benefits.  In this session participants will learn four methods to directly certify students and steps to assist in providing free meal benefits to directly certified students without delay.

January 16 – Procuring a Vended Meal Contract

USDA requires competitive procurement for all school nutrition purchases. This session will walk participants through the process of contracting with a vended meal provider and introduce the Invitation for Bid Vended Meal Contract template available on the MDE website.

January 23 – Managing Your Vended Meal Contract

Schools using a vendor to provide meals for their school nutrition program must manage their contract to ensure they are receiving full value of the services contracted for. This session will provide tips and best practices for managing your vended meal contract.
