Mediasite Instructions

Please read this important information about the Mediasite broadcast from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m.
Visit the MDE Special Education Division Mediasite streaming video site to view the teleconference. The teleconference should open automatically. You will want to use either Internet Explorer or Firefox for this. Do not use Chrome. More detailed technical information and troubleshooting details are below.

Common issues and resolutions

  1. Safari 7.0 and 6.1 browsers include a feature called Safari Power Saver, which is intended to disable plug-ins in order to conserve battery power. When hovering over the video window of a presentation, there should be an icon that appears which you can click on in order to allow the plug-in on that web page. However, we have seen cases where this icon does not appear properly. If this happens, you must disable Power Saver completely in order to allow the plug-in to run. To disable the Power Saver function, enter Safari Preferences, go to the Advanced tab, and uncheck the box to "Stop plug-ins to save power." Reload the web page containing the Mediasite presentation and it should play properly.
  2. Newer versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer may require Compatibility Mode activated to view the broadcast.
  3. Do not use Google Chrome browser. The link to Mediasite may not open. Use Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari or some other browser.
  4. Some Mac users have problems viewing Mediasite programs and others do not. We recommend using a PC rather than a Mac to avoid any last-minute issues.
  5. To avoid audio and video problems, use a “hard-wired” Internet connection to view live broadcasts.
  6. For intermittent audio and video issues, particularly with PowerPoint slides advancing, refresh your browser window and/or disconnect and reconnect to the broadcast.
