The Minnesota Geospatial Advisory Council (GAC) will hold its next quarterly meeting on September 5, 2018, 11:00 - 2:00, in St. Paul.

A new Archiving Workgroup is ready to be approved; its mission is to define policies, best practices and procedures for archiving geospatial data in Minnesota. Image Services Now Use HTTPS; Update Your Links and Code

MnGeo's WMS image services have been updated to allow requests over secure HTTPS. It's best to use HTTPS whenever possible, especially for applications where users log in. Although the old HTTP URLs still work, everyone is encouraged to update their links according to the ones noted below. (Be sure to remove the single quotes.) Outside of the base URL, there are no changes to the parameters required to obtain an image from our services.

1. Geospatial Image Service: Provides access to many years of air photos, a hillshade layer, and scanned topographic maps.

New air photo and hillshade url: 'https://imageserver.gisdata.mn.gov/cgi-bin/wms?'

New topo url: 'https://imageserver.gisdata.mn.gov/cgi-bin/wmsz?'

2. Composite Image Service: Provides a single layer image that automatically switches to an appropriate set of imagery depending on scale and extent.

New url: 'https://imageserver.gisdata.mn.gov/cgi-bin/mncomp?'
