What you need to know Wednesday, March 13 at the Minnesota House of Representatives
One floor session. Twenty-two bills.
The House looks set to finish the legislative week with a flurry of floor activity beginning Thursday at 3:30 p.m. There are 17 bills on the Calendar for the Day and five bills on the supplemental calendar.
It's likely the final floor session with a 67-66 Republican advantage. Will all bills receive a vote, or — like Wednesday — will they be tabled?
Kicking off the day, the House Workforce, Labor, and Economic Development Finance and Policy Committee is scheduled to hear HF1976 that would modify the Paid Family and Medical Leave program. That hearing is at 8:15 a.m.
Also at that time, the House State Government Finance and Policy Committee plans to hear bills to designate the state’s official constellation (Ursa Minor) and official fossil (giant beaver).
At 10:15 a.m., the House Taxes Committee is scheduled to discuss increasing the amount of the state's student loan tax credit. And the House Energy Finance and Policy Committee is scheduled to consider the moratorium on new nuclear power plants at 1 p.m.
