What you need to know Tuesday, March 11 at the Minnesota House of Representatives
The day of the District 40B special election is here. House members will find out whether they’ll have a 67-67 tie with a DFL win, or if Republicans will gain another member to reach 68.
Here at the Capitol it’ll be a full day of committee meetings, plus a midday floor session.
- At 3 p.m., the House Housing Finance and Policy Committee will hear testimony on HF1987, called the Minnesota Starter Home Act, which would modify requirements to comprehensive plan amendments and limit cities’ zoning authority related to certain residential developments.
- Also at 3 p.m., House Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee will hear HF1257 to eliminate the Public Safety Advisory Council.
- The House Environment and Natural Resources Finance and Policy Committee is slated to consider HF1425 at 1 p.m., which would prohibit the sale of state-owned land in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
- Minnesota State officials are expected to present their 2026-27 budget request to the House Higher Education Finance and Policy Committee at 1 p.m.
- The State Government Finance and Policy Committee is scheduled to receive an update on the State Office Building renovation at 8:15 a.m.
