Required metadata training

Metadata training is now required for web content creators. Creating and maintaining good metadata is part of the county’s commitment to ensuring an effective search experience for our audiences. Training includes how metadata enhances search, what makes good metadata, and the process for entering it in Sitecore. Attend one of three upcoming training sessions.

No pre-registration is necessary for either training, but attendance will be taken. For questions about these sessions, contact Jo Marsicano.

Deleting Sitecore content items

Content creators can now delete items from Sitecore. 

You must unpublish before deleting any content item.

To unpublish content: 

1. Click on "Review" then "Edit" or "Lock and Edit."
2. Find and expand the Publishing section of the content item. If you do not see the Publishing section, check the Standard Fields box under the View tab.
3. Choose the date and time that you would like your item unpublished. You can click the Now button to populate the current date and time.
4. Save your item.
5. Under the Review tab follow the publishing process of Check In, Push to Stage, and Publish to Website.
6. Once you have published your item with an unpublish date and time set, it will remove your item from the site. You may want to verify that it is no longer available on the site.

To delete your content:

1. Once you have successfully unpublished your item, make sure that item is selected in the Sitecore content tree.
2. You can right-click on your item in the content tree and select Delete from the drop-down list, or you can click the Delete button found under the Home tab.
3. You will see a pop-up confirming that you want to delete your item. Click OK.
4. Your item will no longer appear in the Sitecore content tree. Once your item is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
