It's the holiday season, which means plenty of drivers will be hitting the highways in the coming weeks. It's been dubbed the "most wonderful time of the year," but unfortunately the time frame between Thanksgiving and New Year's is also one of the most dangerous times of the year for motorists. To raise awarenress, MADD is asking drivers to "Tie One On For Safety" by attaching a MADD red ribbon to their vehicles. This helps to serve as a visable reminder about the importance of designating a sober, non-drinking driver.
"Tie One On For Safety," was launched in 1986 and continues to be MADD's longest running public awareness project. Although the phrase is slang for drinking alcohol, officials at MADD are using the slogan in a safety message to help inform the public that drinking and driving don't mix.
