 County Board to award design-build contract June 26
The Hennepin County Board Public Works, Energy and Environment Committee approved the Design-Build Selection Panel's recommendation to award Knutson the Interchange Design-Build contract earlier this afternoon, with final Hennepin County Board action to occur June 26.
Knutson’s proposed design for the Interchange includes a new light-rail platform and station, a year-round public plaza and park, with open green space and iconic design elements. The plaza will allow members of the community to gather for various celebrations and events. Additionally, the plaza creates a space that connects to the historic Warehouse District and surrounding neighborhoods. There are also exciting opportunities for complementary private development on the site in the future.
The Design-Build Selection Panel evaluated Knutson’s technical and cost proposal separately based on the evaluation criteria in the Design-Build Request for Proposals (RFP) issued in December 2011. Based on the combined evaluation, the panel concluded that Knutson’s proposal offered the best value to the public.
